A proud alumna of Spelman College, J’nelle holds a bachelor’s degree in economics. She also earned a master’s degree in Sports Management from Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies and a second master’s from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. While at Medill, she was credited as a Research Assistant on the PBS American Masters documentary, Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise, which won the Peabody Award and was a Sundance Film Festival selection.

J’nelle is an avid traveler and adventurer. In 2022, she co-founded Sistahs to the Summit, a group of 14 Black women who became the largest group of Black women to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. They continued their journey with an expedition to Antarctica in 2024 and are currently preparing for their next adventure in Bhutan. Their travels have been featured on CBS Mornings and The Today Show.

J’nelle N. Agee is a seasoned media executive and storyteller with extensive experience across broadcast, digital, and live event production. She most recently served as the Executive Director of Editorial at EBONY Media, where she led the brand’s content strategy and editorial voice across EBONY.com. Under her leadership, the team developed original digital franchises, covered cultural events, and produced monthly digital cover experiences.

Prior to EBONY, J’nelle was the Senior Producer of Video at Oprah Daily, where she oversaw the digital video strategy for OprahDaily.com and its social platforms. She produced several high-profile franchises, including The World According to Gayle with Gayle King and Project Spread Joy with David Begnaud. She also led production for Oprah Winfrey’s The Life You Want classes and Oprah’s Book Club events. Her team’s work on Oprah’s Book Club featuring Jarvis Jay Masters was recognized as a Webby Honoree.

Earlier in her career, J’nelle worked as a producer at NBC Universal, contributing to MSNBC Live with Craig Melvin, and covering pivotal national events such as the 2020 Election, the Capitol Hill Riot, the COVID-19 pandemic, Supreme Court confirmations, and impeachment proceedings. She also supported breaking news coverage for NBC News Specials, NBC News Now, and Peacock.
